Most of the time, major award shows have left a major genre in the dust. It’s hard to find sci-fi, fantasy, or superhero content on the list of nominations outside of visual effects and occasionally writing. The Emmys moved to include Stranger Things and Game of Thrones in Best Drama because their popularity was overwhelming. Yet many other fan favorites still deserve awards recognition. For the last 45 years, the Saturn Awards have been filing the gap by truly appreciating the best of sci-fi, horror, fantasy and more. Here are the nominees for the Saturn Awards 2019.
This year, Game of Thrones leads with most total nominations. The Orville is going to try for a second win in Best Sci-fi series. Marvel piled on the nominations with both Infinity War and Endgame going head-to-head for the Best Comic-to-Motion Picture prize.
See the list of nominations for the 45th Annual Saturn Awards below. The winners will be announced this September.
