Emerald City Comic Con 2021
It’s back! Seattle’s premier pop culture event, Emerald City Comic Con has returned to the Washington State Convention Center. Typically a spring convention, this year we take on the PNW’s winter weather and gather in December for all things fandom. Cosplayers gather your shields, Emerald City Comic Con 2021 is now open!
Origin Story
This show has grown significantly since it first started. As pop culture fandom became more prevalent, so too did regional conventions. These unique experiences allow fans to come together closer to home. Emerald City works to showcase vendors and artists from the Northwest while including vendors that attend many conventions across the country. This year some of the industry’s top publishers are not in attendance, so this will be a great opportunity to visit smaller shops you may have missed before.
Guests from around the entertainment space meet and greet with fans. This year’s headliner is John Cena who is making waves as Peacemaker for the DCEU. Also, Hayden Christensen, famously Star Wars’ Anakin Skywalker from the prequel series, will also be chatting with fans over the weekend. Check out the full list of entertainment guests below.
Walking “the floor” is also a favorite part of any con. Although many conventions tried to recreate this virtually, this is a hard experience to replicate. I didn’t realize how much I missed walking around booth after booth to see what goodies, art, t-shirts, knick-knacks, pins, and toys I could find. I know I don’t need more Funko Pops or another pin, but part of being a fan is being proud and repping your fandom year-round. So I’m happy to keep finding these gems at conventions like this.
