Welcome to the multiverse, Peter Parker. In the Spider-Man: No Way Home teaser trailer, Spider-Man is on the run from the police, classmates, and the world’s media. He needs to hide from the life-ruining exposure care of Mysterio and J. Jonah Jameson. Certainly, without the leadership of his mentor, Tony Stark, being a public superhero is harder than it looks. Asking for help from a fellow Avenger, Peter gets more than he bargained for when he makes a deal to change the past.

MJ and Peter find themselves followed by helicopters moments after the end of the last film. Quickly questioned by police about Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio’s death, Peter along with anyone who knows his true identity need to prove his innocence. This is yet again forcing superheroes to face the law and make sense of their actions. Captain America: Civil War starts the Sarcovia Accords conversation that leads to in-fighting amongst the Avengers about how and when they can live outside the law. Most on Cap’s side against the Accords went on the run as fugitives for several years. Spider-Man is just a teenager with a history of saving the world. Peter can either prove what Beck really did or he can change what happened.

In the teaser, when Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange to rewrite the past, he ends up opening the multiverse. Multiple classic Spider-Man villains begin to emerge. Green Goblin’s voice is heard and Doc Oc is seen hunting for Peter Parker.
Although, we don’t get confirmation on the existence of other Spider-Mans. A long-running rumor says Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may return as their version of Spider-Man for this film. Also, rumors around Kirsten Dunst say she is returning as MJ. From the No Way Home teaser trailer, we can see the villains crossing over, but we don’t know who they may have brought with them.

Further, we don’t know if this situation is made worse or better because of Sylvie’s actions in Loki. There is now an immeasurable number of timeline branches being formed. This could impact how effective Doctor Strange’s spell is as he is not just playing with the space-time continuum, but facing a much larger multiverse than he may even know.
