Top Five Things Not to Miss at Emerald City ComicCon 2018
Thursday. For the first time, ECCC organizer ReedPop has extended the Con to four days, so now Thursday is a thing. Not only is Thursday a thing, but it will be the day that features David Tennant and Billie Piper, the 10th Doctor Who, and his companion, Rose on the main stage (the pair will be around other days for signings and photos). Like all of the other days at the Con, Thursday offers panels on everything from diversity to toy collecting.

Jelly Belly Art. Jelly Belly Artist in Residence Kristen Cumings can be seen at Jelly Belly booth (#NLN8) creating a Jelly Belly Art masterpiece entirely from jelly beans. Rumor has it that they will be celebrating their new Jurassic World products so look for something with Jelly Belly teeth. The final piece will employ around 12,000 jelly beans. Attendees can also spin the BeanBoozled wheel for prizes.

Visit Cosmere in VR. Arcturus, in partnership with DMG Entertainment, recently announced that The Way of Kings, Escape the Shattered Plains, an adaptation of Brandon Sanderson’s best-selling The Stormlight Archive serieswill arrive on Viveport and Steam for HTC Vive on March 2. ECCC attendees can check out the new immersive and interactive adventure in VR on the floor at booth #600.

Western Championships of Cosplay. Saturday at 7:30, the Con’s Main Stage will host the Western Championships of Cosplay. Seattle is the first stop on ReedPOP’s 2019 Global Championships of Cosplay. Contestants will strut and posture for prizes from the $5,000 pool of awards. Winners qualify for the final round of the Global Championship to be held in Chicago on April 7. Cosplay embodies the empowerment and creativity that Cons have come to be known for. This is a great opportunity to see top Cosplay designs.
Coming to ECCC decked out as your favorite hero, heroine, robot or alien but not entering the main event? Stop by Zenescopes’s booth (#1913) and enter their year-long Cosplay Contest. If you aren’t coming to ECCC, post a picture to social media using #ZENCOSPLAY18 to enter.
Become Your Own Animator. Social animation vendor Dodles (booth #618) will be hosting a “dodle-ing” contest where attendees can craft their own character. Other attendees will be able to send “love” to their favorite creations. At the end of the ECCC winners from children and adult, groups will be given a prize for the most loved art.
Exclusives don’t rank as a top five must, but several companies will be bringing ECCC-only products to the Con. Many artists and writers will also be available at the booths for free to turn collectibles into a personalized exclusive. Check individual booth schedules for when your favorites will be available.
