Once Upon in Hollywood

It’s 1969 in Hollywood and there is a lot going on. For Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), his career as TV cowboy is coming to a close while his film career won’t start. His trusty sidekick stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), is always there for moral support. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood trailer shows the mega talent cast in full force. The film looks like a drama sprinkled with comedy with many Tarantino-isms.

DiCaprio dominates the trailer as the erratic ’50’s actor tries to prove himself as a movie star. It’s always impressive when a superstar actor in real life can believably play a down-and-out talent. Brad Pitt reminds us of his Hollywood stud status as his character is lured into the Mason Family. We see glimpses of Al Pacino as Rick’s potential agent along with Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, and Dakota Fanning.

The film will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival this week, but don’t expect spoilers to leak! Director Quentin Tarantino is a film aficionado and values the cinematic, theatrical experience, so he released a letter to the audience not share anything about the film. The typewriter letter, posted to Instagram, parallels the anti-spoiler campaign around Avengers: Endgame which started with the Russo Brothers sharing a letter to fans. To protect the theater going experience and increase film hype, expect more filmmakers work to protect their work from spoilers!
