Today a long awaited follow-up story was shared with eager fans. Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish) premiered via Netflix’s social pages to catch-up with the Banks family and share a special event.
Father of the Bride may be one of the best wedding movies ever made. The film reimagines the 1950 film of the same name. The 1991 version starred Diane Keaton and Steve Martin as parents, George and Nina Banks, who host their daughter Annie’s wedding. Along with their son Matty (Kieran Culkin) and an over-the-top wedding planner, Frank (Martin Short), the family manages to get their bride down the aisle. The film captured all the fun, challenge, and extravagance that can go into planning a wedding. The film went on to make almost $90 million at the box office and still plays on cable more times than anyone can count.
In 1995 the sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, was released with all original cast members. This film follows the Banks family into parenthood and grandparenthood. Annie and husband, Brian, are expecting their first baby while George and Nina also learn they will have another child. The family has to find a way to plan for two new babies, including having Frank plan a double baby shower. The two babies end up sharing a birthday.
