Summer is here! TV has moved into the off season, but there are still some big shows making their return. Not to mention, the summer blockbuster slate is full with major films every weekend. Our What to Watch July 2019 calendar below shares all the dates you need to be aware of so you don’t miss a minute!
FILM
On the film front, there are so many great films coming to keep your popcorn bucket filled. July 2nd sees Tom Holland’s Spider-Man return to theaters in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Jake Gyllenhaal makes his Marvel debut as Mysterio in Far From Home. July 12th brings us Stuber. An Uber ride gone wrong sets off an epic and unexpected adventure, staring Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista. Disney returns to their remakes with The Lion King on July 19th. The film has a massive cast, but don’t expect it to be that different from the original. (Check out our review of Aladdin.)
At the end of the month, Quentin Tarantino brings his Hollywood tale to theaters, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. This film is highly anticipated, not only for Tarantino fans, but this also pairs Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio together for the first time. The story has a strict no-spoiler policy straight from the typewriter of Tarantino, so you’ll have to see this in theaters to know what it is all about.

TV
On the TV front, Stranger Things returns for season 3. The hotly anticipated horror series shows up on July 4th. If you didn’t have plans to hang outside for the holiday, you could spend some time in the Upside Down. Also on Netflix, Designated Survivor makes its streaming debut after the series was saved from its ABC cancellation. Reality shows reign during the summer. Love Island will take you to the beach with the American remake of the popular British series.
The battle over your attention will be held between all streaming major streaming services on July 26th. Veronica Mars will make her Hulu debut. The series will pick up where the 2014 film left off. The 26th also has the final season of Orange is the New Black premiering as Piper spends her first few months on the outside while new wife, Alex, is still in prison. Finally, The Boys on Amazon Prime Video premieres as rogue superheroes go a little bad in this mature-audiences-only version of a superhero world.
The last unique feature of this month is all the content coming out about the 1969 moon landing. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and many different networks have created specials about the the famous Apollo 11 mission. Find the listings on the schedule below to revisit this iconic and historic moment.
